Gymnasts should wear leotards. No tights; bare legs and bare feet are best.
Boys should wear athletic shorts and t-shirts.
Street clothing, loose-fitting apparel denim, buttons and zippers aren't appropriate for class.
Please remove ALL jewelry and leave it at home.
Hair should be pulled back, securely fastened away from the face and neck.
Please contact the gym to speak with an ASA staff member if you have a question that is not answered above. We're happy to help!
ASA Gymnastics apparel, leotards, gym bags, and other accessories can be ordered through the gym office. Check with a staff member for upcoming order dates.
What should I do if I miss a class?
For the safety and steady progress of our athletes, we control our class sizes and student-teacher ratios during training. In an effort to provide predictable class sizes and adequate coaching staff, we offer make-up classes by appointment only. Please contact the gym office to schedule your makeup date. Please note that walk-in makeups are not guaranteed.
If you will miss a class for an extended amount of time due to an injury or illness, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you!
About the ASA Gymnastics Staff
As a USA Gymnastics Member Club, we pride ourselves on a positive, safe and progressive learning environment. Our coaches and gym assistants participate in safety training and professional development on a regular basis. Our knowledge and experience of the skill progressions recommended by USA Gymnastics allows us to deliver positive results for athletes at every level and produce award-winning performances from our competitive teams.
We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our coaching staff. With professional coaching experience through USA Gymnastics, as well as collective experience as school teachers, high school and collegiate coaches, and experience as current/former competitive gymnasts, cheerleaders and dancers, the ASA staff brings valuable knowledge and experience to the program to share with your children.
All staff members must have current clearances & safety training to ensure the well-being of all members.
What payment options are available?
Student Accounts: If you have questions regarding your student's account, please stop at the reception desk and we will be happy to assist you!
Your tuition payment plan will be set up at the time of registration and based on your preferences by a member of our administrative staff.
You may pay in full or chose the convenience of our monthly auto-debit. Please keep in mind, you must provide 25-day notice in writing or by email regarding program withdrawal if you are on an automatic debit plan.
For your convenience, we accept VISA, MASTER CARD, and DISCOVER for your tuition payments.
I'm a parent; can I observe my child or children during class time?
In an effort to keep our athletes, their families, and the ASA staff as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, we currently have limited parent observation and a curbside drop off/pick up area for athletes. Please call the gym office and a member of our staff will provide detailed information about current COVID protocols. We do plan to fully reopen our parent observation once it is deemed safe to do so.
Siblings and visitors must remain in the parking lot/waiting area due to COVID-19 protocols. Full observation will resume at a future date per guidelines provided by the CDC and the state of Pennsylvania.
Only registered members and scheduled trials may participate in class. Visitors are not permitted in the training area.
For your safety, absolutely no one is permitted on the training floor and/or apparatus without approval and supervision by an ASA Gymnastics coach or staff member.
If you have any questions about class activities or your child's class placement, please ask us!
What is Open Gym?
We offer weekly OPEN GYM! For information and current schedules, please contact the gym office.
Different than a group lesson, this is an open forum where kids can choose the skills they want to work and the stations they want to visit. Because of the open structure, you must be seven (7) years old to participate and have a current waiver on file. The age restriction is waived for competitive team members.
To maintain a safe environment, open gym is monitored by members of our coaching staff. Coaches are available to assist athletes, spot skills and ensure safety.
Where should I park?
Parking is available in the front of our building and to the left of our front entrance. Overflow parking is also available to the left side of our building. Please DO NOT park in front of Southern Foods, AIS or other neighboring businesses with private parking signs.
We sometimes find trash, water bottles, etc. in the parking area. Trash cans are available throughout the facility. Please help maintain a clean and healthy environment for our members by disposing of your personal items.
What do I do if the weather is bad?
During inclement weather, please call the gym for a recorded message regarding class cancellations. Both KDKA-TV and WPXI will display gym closings or delays for All-Star Athletics & Gymnastics (ASA). Weather-related information will also be posted on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We suggest you FOLLOW US on social media to see these updates!
Keep in mind, school closings and delays typically occur early in the morning. Often times, the roads are cleared prior to the start of our afternoon and evening programs. Please do not assume ASA is closed when school is closed. As long as our staff can travel to the gym safely, we will be open for training!
We do encourage all families to use their own discretion when it comes to travel and road safety in the event of inclement weather. It is always best to err on the side of caution and schedule a makeup class if road safety on your route to the club is questionable.
